Senior Software Engineers for LabLife, a startup supported by Addgene

LabLife is seeking senior software engineers to lead the founding development team for a new web-based application targeting biologists. LabLife.org is the first software platform for biologists to efficiently handle all their information technology tasks including analyzing data, sharing results, communicating with labmates and connecting with other researchers around the world.

LabLife is funded by Addgene, a leading provider of data and repository services for the academic research community.

Responsibilities

Help lead the founding team to design, develop, deploy, and manage a new web application, including platform and GUI development.

Qualifications

Successful candidates must have a vibrant, self-motivated, get-it-done attitude; the ability to think critically; good communication and collaborative development skills; a desire to learn in new areas; and the discipline to pay attention to details, quality, and deadlines.

At least 3 years of experience, or equivalent, developing software applications in C++; web development, Javascript, and AJAX experience preferred; must have database and UNIX experience and expertise. Independent software development and project management experiences, expertise in Bioinformatics, and familiarity with basic molecular biology methods such as cloning are pluses. Experience developing and managing high-volume websites also desired.

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience. Master’s Degree in related field preferred.

Start Date: Immediate.

Job Location: Company is located at One Kendall Square in Cambridge, MA; Close to MIT & the Red Line.

Compensation: Based on experience, competitive with market.
